From1500to1700, economy and society of the British take place moderntransition, the changes has a profound influence on the development process of theBritish history. This period of British women participate in variety of economicactivity. They made a positive contribution for the individual, the family and socialdevelopment. The commodity economy had gotten preliminary development in thisperiod.Currency in the social life is becoming more and more important, money is notlike the middle ages that was seen as sin, and became the material needs satisfiedpeople daily life. People eager to get money rely on his own labor.In the traditional society, women were positioned in the family, engaged thehousework, not participated in social economic activities outside the home. But by the16-17th century,British women, keen on earning money through own labor, they setfoot in the social economic activities field widely. On the young stage, the girls didthe maid service or apprentice work to other families, to accumulate dowry charges;After marriage,along with the development of industry, especially woolen textileprosperity and the development of commodity economy,women participated in thesocial economic activities. They were busy with all sorts of professional places, andgot some work reward, supported their families, and promoted the rise of thesocial status of individuals. At the same time, as a huge work force,they also hadmade a great contribution to the development of the British economy.By the16-17th century, with the new development of British economy, theflourishing of the commercial trade and the rise of rural industrial and the agriculturalrevolution offered many opportunities for women participating in economic activity.This article try to expound all kinds of economic activity of women, and throughthe analysis of the British women social living conditions, diligently consider therestriction factors affected women participating in the economic activities, discusshow the social cultural environment, family background and personal accomplishmentto influence their employees. In addition, their economic activities on themaintenance of their families, personal development and the development of economyhave played a big role.
