Volunteers are those people or the crowd who engage in public welfare based on the morality, the belief, the responsibility and service consciousness, but not driven by private interests or enforced by law enforcement. With the continuous development of sports events, the comprehensive international competitions on sports activities promote greatly, which put forward to the very demand for human resource because of the characteristics of its large scale and short session. Ordinary labor market can’t meet this special need of sudden gathering and sudden scattering, while the job traits of sports volunteer can highly accord with human resource demand of sports event, thus, hosting sports events by employing volunteers has become a practice. In some way, sports volunteers play more and more important role. A successful sport event held is a manifestation of the overall strength of the country arid it also has become a huge culture activity. There are many influencing factors related to whether successfully hosting sports events or not, such as the economic power of the hosting country, the sports development level, the transportation condition, the communication technology level, the security measures, the organization and management ability, the quality of the participants and so on, among which the quality and service level of volunteers are the most important factors.After the United States hosting Olympic Games for four times, sports volunteer service has become the mainstream sports culture of America. At present, among the countries promoting sports volunteer service in the world, sports volunteer activities in America develop very actively and successfully. In the United States, volunteers are active in kinds of sports competitions, communities, schools, sports clubs, the disabled crowd, leisure sports organizations and other service areas, who have done great contribution for the development and progress of the sports course in America. The United States Atlanta Olympics in1996is the anniversary of one hundred years of the Olympics, thus the effective organization of sports volunteers is the important factor concerning the success of the Atlanta Olympics. As some articles charged by the International Olympic Committee of the OLYMPIC REVIEW magazine says,"The Atlanta Olympics is an unprecedented event","Olympic Games has stepped into the new century" and so on. Since volunteer activities develop very lately in China, and the sports volunteer is a new thing in recent years. Even there has been some success made about sports volunteers in China, especially sports volunteers’ service in2008Beijing Olympics, to some extent, shows national sports volunteers’current condition and development potential, however, there being some problems should be paid attention, such as there is not a set of complete recruitment mechanism, training mechanism or incentive mechanism about sports volunteers and all of these problems restrict the development of sports volunteers in China. Volunteer team is an important strength of national mass sports event. Throughout the world sports volunteer service, America’s has developed maturely and orderly. Thus it is very necessary and feasible to refer to the successful experience of sports volunteer of America based on the national actual condition after studying the training system, management experience and some advanced experience of America while inheriting the successful experience of sports volunteer of national sports volunteer. |
