Population Agglomeration Degree And Its Change In Binxian-Changwu-Xunyi Resource-rich Region

As population is the principal part of regional economy activities, and the most active factor in regional development. Research on regional population distribution and its changes is of great significance to regional analysis and planning. Population agglomeration degree is a composite index to evaluate regional population agglomeration degree, which is composed of population density and population flow intensity. Compared with traditional measure indexes, it can reflect the process and trend of regional population agglomeration, with more abundant theoretical connotation and practical significance.Resource-rich regions are mostly resourceful and underdeveloped, with fragile ecological environment, which are sensitive to human activity. Binxian-Changwu-Xunyi Region is an important energy and chemical industry base in Shaanxi Province, with rich reserves of coal resources. In recent years, the exploitation of coal drives fast economic growth, the population agglomeration degree changes significantly. Choosing Binxian-Changwu-Xunyi Resource-rich Region as the research object, analyzes the changes of its population agglomeration degree before and after resource exploitation, discusses the relationship between resource exploitation and the changes of population agglomeration degree; these are of great significance to promote the rational redistribution of population in resource-rich regions, also to the coordinated and sustainable development of population, economy, resources and environment.This article starts with the concept and geographical significance of population agglomeration degree, analyses the relationship between resource exploitation and the changes of population agglomeration degree, and improves the calculation method of population agglomeration degree. Choosing Binxian-Changwu-Xunyi Resource-rich Region as the empirical object, based on the most recent census data of township in this region, evaluates the population agglomeration degree and its changes between2000and2010, analyses the impacts on the changes by resource exploitation and other factors. According to the evaluation results, predicts the population trends, and puts forward some related countermeasure proposal. The main conclusions of this article are as follows:(1) On the whole, the population agglomeration degree of Binxian-Changwu-Xunyi Resource-rich Region changed obviously between2000-2010, population flow intensity also increased significantly, but the changes of population density is not significant, the concentration degree of population increased. Locally, the population flow intensity and population agglomeration degree pattern changed in a strong spatial-temporal consistency with the resource exploitation activities, villages and towns that population agglomeration degree and population flow intensity changed significantly are mainly regions where coal resources are exploiting importantly. However, due to resource depletion causes coal output falls, population agglomeration degree and population flow intensity drops substantially in these villages and towns.(2) Resource exploitation is the dominant factor that affects the changes of population agglomeration degree in Binxian-Changwu-Xunyi Region, which influences the changes of regional population flow intensity directly. The transfer of rural labor force is the main cause that the density of most villages and towns population declines, which is closely related with the impacts on the regional economy by resource exploitation. Urbanization is the major cause of the substantial rise of the population agglomeration degree in county towns. Population agglomeration ability of other villages and towns are mostly weak.(3) In the future, agglomeration will be the main trend of population in Binxian-Changwu-Xunyi Region. Population will continue to concentrate in the county towns and those towns where resource exploitation activities strengthening. It is necessary to be guided by the ideas and principles of spatial function region, through implementing different industrial policy and population policy in the urbanization areas, agricultural areas and ecological areas, so as to optimize and regulate resource exploitation and population agglomeration, in order to promote the sustainable development of the resource-rich region.
