The training of teachers is an important step both in strengthening faculty’s quality and promoting the education quality. Since great changes have occurred in many parts of middle school geography teaching, including the content of teaching materials, the method and the criteria, The development of geography teachers seems more demanding and challenging, especially for Pudong New Area, where geography is regarded as the key course. Moreover, Nanhui District, which is newly combined to Pudong, made this situation even more complicated and challenging when considering the differences in the levels of understanding in geography education, in the level of faculties as well as the facilities.This research focuses on the training in different levels which are held in Pudong recent years. This research also points out the problem which is now among those middle school geography teachers. In order to analyze this problem scientifically and objectively, this research covers the survey on the situation of geography teachers in Pudong and their needs in career development. The method of research is by secret online vote. The target of the research is all the geography teachers in Pudong New Area. The Content of this survey includes the details of each informant, the understanding of new geography courses, the orientation of one’s own career development and the personal description of the geography courses. The data of the research is analyzed by software "SPSS", which can show the requirement in details for middle school teacher from different categories and levels. Those requirements, on the other hand, will be the key point when considering the training of middle school geography teachers.Also, six strategies have been raised in chapter6according to the analysis of research results in chapter2, which says as follows:1. Clarify the functions of each department. Increase the attention on "small" subjects.2. Redesign the course systematically while stressing the professionalism of geography.3. Layering the group more delicately, making the training more suitable to different levels of people.4. Adjust the strategy of each school’s own training, making it more efficient.5. Strengthen the mental guidance, promoting the motivation of study.6. Solve the large problem in geographical span by using modern communication technology.
