Abstract/Summary:
Any geographical distribution is inseparable from a certain area, how to properly classifyand evaluate the occurrence and development of geographical phenomena must be onlyimplemented in specific regions, so teaching of regional geography in high school geographyplays a very important role. Regional development, regional development, regional issuessuch as regulation of all current social hot spots, regional geography involves knowledge ofgeography knowledge system as a whole is an important foothold and regional geography inthe propositions naturally plays an important role in the college entrance examination inrecent years. For high school students, however, it is extracting the information in maps that isthe most difficult in learning regional geography. Therefore, it appears to be particularlyurgent and critical to develop students’ map skills in regional geography teaching in seniorhigh school.Based on the background of regional geography taught in high school, the paper employssome research methods including literature searches, surveys and so on, analyzing the datacollected with qualitative and quantitative methods and trying to find the main factorsaffecting students’ map understanding, map reading, map using, map drawing and mapanalyzing, which can help propose targeted training strategies.Through analysis and research in accordance with the above-mentioned the main factorsinfluencing high school students’ map ability in regional geography study are as follows:1. students-level factors: first, the students ’ lack of interest on the map itself. Second,students have wrong opinions on the value of the map usage. Thirdly, students ’ basicknowledge of maps is relatively weak; Four, students lack of thinking habits the regionalspace.2. teachers-level factors: Firstly, teachers’ emphasis on emphasis on teaching of regionalgeography maps need improving; Secondly, some teaching methods lack of flexibility.3. schools and exam system factors: First, schools pay less attention to geographyteaching, with few teaching hours. under the influence of teaching schedule pressures,teachers always proceed fast; Second, because of the large frontal size of classes in schools,guidance to the students ’ ability of maps is not sufficient; Third, the inconsecutive cohesionof the geography of middle and high school in which schools often reduce the geography class after the standard grade geography exam, leads students in senior high school, forgettheir learned knowledge of geography of junior high.Through an analysis of these factors, the main strategy in regional geography teaching tocultivate map ability can be roughly obtained: first, cultivate students ’ interest in learning bystimulating their motivation; Second, strengthen the basic knowledge of geography andpractice a lot;Third, variant training is to create learning situations; Four, focus on thecohesion of the geography knowledge of junior high and senior high and ensure adequateamount of class, strengthening the guidance of students.
