Vocabulary teaching is supposed to be the basis of Chinese teaching in the middle schoollanguage teaching, which is very important, but in reality, teachers often ignore words inclass in high school. They excessively pursuit " humanism", creativity and activity. They alsoexcessively pursuit thinking training and thinking edification.Texts are ignored and Chinese istaught with no material. Teachers blindly let students discuss the content of the text. Thepurpose of vocabulary teaching is often used as a way to understand the text. This research isbased on the thought of the Chinese college entrance examination, from which direction theresearch explores the effective ways of vocabulary teaching to make it break away from"means" or" tools" and highlight its value and meaning in Chinese teaching.This article takes vocabulary in national volume and volume of Shandong of the collegeentrance examination from2001to2011as the main object of study, analyzes features ofwords and the reason of students’ failure, and combines with problems in teaching high schoolvocabulary. And the research builds the basic framework of vocabulary teaching materials byreviewing and checking the previous teaching materials and methods of vocabuly, tries to finda method system for students to learn and teachers to teach and explores a set of effectivevocabulary teaching method.For nearly eleven years questions of words in the test is a relatively stable type in thecollege entrance examination with frequently checking of notional words and idioms, andfunction words occasionally entrained in the notional words, students in the examinationapparently show weak words application ability, and inaccurate understanding of idioms. Themain reason is that the teacher need to pay more attention to the words in the teaching processand the teaching method needs to be changed. Aiming to solve this problem, the authordiscusses vocabulary teaching methods in high school. Teachers can use sememe analysismethod to understand the meaning of words, let the students learn function words byanalyzing the parts of speech and learn idioms through structure features of words.Vocabularycan be taught from cultural perspective and the use of words can be trained by makingsentences. And suggestions on vocabulary college entrance examination are put forward fromthe perspective of front-line teachers.
