Old widowed is a greater impact for old people. At present, many researchers studied the adaptation problem of the old man, but there are few researchers studied the adapt demand of the residence widowed elder. Therefore, this research is to study the adapt demand of the institutional widowed elders, analysis of the adaptation and demand of the residence widowed old man from the research object subjective narrative.In the research method, the study used qualitative research methods, writing outline interviews, and use of the outline to conduct depth interview, and received the materials. Through the narrative analysis, the main founds of this study are as follows:1. Most of the objects in the study were experienced long-term residence adaptation and sad process. This process can be divided into three stages:early widowed, turning period, the reply, reconstruction phase. And the widowed old man had physical, psychological and social sad reactions.2. This study, widowed old man in the home basically has the following kinds of demands at the adjustment process:health care need; change of roles, psychological adjustment need; social support need.3. The result of this study found that characters, life values for widowed etc. have a significant influence on the residence adapt demand of the old widowed man. The old man relationship with their children, and their children to the old man’s filial piety case, is also one of the important factors for the elders to adapt to the residence life.4. The widowed old men have lower adapt capacity and satisfaction, poor mental state, and higher degree depression. The widowed old residence needs more health care and social support than non-widowed old residence.
