| The year1936witnessed the founding of Private Jinan Huilu Industrial and Commercial Vocational School. Ever since its establishment, the school had experienced wars, troubled times, and restoration, and had evolved successively into Private Huilu Accounting School, Cadre School of Shandong Supply and Marketing Cooperative, and the Polytechnic School of Shandong Institute of Finance and Economics. In1961, under the guideline of "adjust, consolidate, strengthen, and improve", the Department of Commerce of Shandong Province transformed the polytechnic school into Jinan Business School of Shandong Province, a full-time secondary polytechnic school of finance and economics. In the early years of the People’s Republic of China, Jinan Business School of Shandong Province made great contributions to the development of the province’s economy and commerce by fostering a large number of financial and economic talents.Meantime, Private Huiji Primary Business School in Qingdao that had developed from Private Qingdao Commerce Vocational School was taken over by the Qingdao Municipal Government. The school underwent a series of transformation, namely from Qingdao Business School of Shandong Province to Qingdao Veterinary Cadre School, and was finally transferred to Jinan to merge into Jinan Business School of Shandong.During the "Cultural Revolution", while the development of the school experienced stagnation and recovery, the name of the school also underwent several changes. With the ending of the tumultuous Cultural Revolution, Shandong Provincial School of Commerce embraced its rejuvenation. The school was expanded and the quality of education was substantially improved. The school successfully took the advantage of the situation to merge with Shandong Commercial Workers’College to inaugurate Shandong Institute of Commerce and Technology, the province’s first higher vocational institution approved by the Ministry of Education. Since its inauguration, the leadership and the staff of the institute have successfully built the institute into a national model vocational college, thus generating breakthroughs in program development and new advancements in enrolment and graduates’ employment. They have continued their vigorous efforts to strive for the goal of developing the institute into a domestically and internationally leading higher vocational college specializing in the study of business. |
