The object of this paper is to discuss the main causes and problems that Hainan college students have in their value of life, and puts forward the countermeasures on education of Hainan college students’value of life. The research consists three levels:This paper begins with the survey of the status of Hainan college students’life values through questionnaires and individual interviews.The analysis suggests that the main problems that Hainan college students have in value of life are: lacking of rational judgment to various certain extents; having low self-identity; tending to utilitarianism; being inclined to have thoughts and actions of disregarding life.This paper then discusses in depth of the main causes of the problems that Hainan college students have in value of life in aspects as follows:higher education, social environment of college, family environment, primary and secondary education. In higher education cause, it is due to the little attention Hainan universities pay to education of college students’value of life, embodied in:Hainan colleges have not set up courses on value of life so far; related courses involves very little for the life values education; cultural climate of respecting life and loving life has not formed in Hainan colleges. Social environment has impact on Hainan college students’value of life mainly as follows:bringing college students the contradictions of self-positioning and social needs by the imbalance of social and industrial development; the economic society cause college students to confirm material pursuit while dropping into the swirl of utilitarianism; the diversified society brings college students the contradiction of variety options of life value and value recognition; online life brings college students increasing awareness of themselves while weakening real social communication.Besides, this paper discusses the causes affecting Hainan college students’value of life from two aspects:family environment, primary and secondary education. Family environment has impact mainly as follows:mandatory parenting style is liable to inhibit college students’ independent choice of life values; parents’eager of quick success is likely to cause college students to ignore the diversity of life value; parents’excessively spoiling is likely to cause the "self-centered" life consciousness of college students; whether family relationships are harmonious or not directly affects the emotion and interpretation of college students’value of life. The influence of primary and secondary education appears in:inhibition of the personality of the life due to dogmatic education style; the examination-oriented education system cannot make students understand the rich content of the whole life; traditional authoritarian approach neglects the equality of the individual life.In conclusion, the causes and problems that Hainan college students have in their value of life are diverse and complex. With limited individual ability and length of the paper, the last part of the study suggests some countermeasures on education of Hainan college students’ value of life only from the perspective of higher education, including three aspects:setting up curricular system of value of life in Hainan colleges; creating cultural climate of respecting life and loving life in campus; making joint efforts among college, family and society.
