| Professional identity means that one person considering his profession is valuable, meaningful, and finding pleasure from it. Teacher’s professional identity is not only a state, but also a process. Studying teacher’s professional identity is significant in solving problems about teachers, improving teachers’ quality and stabilizing the teachers’ team. The research based on questionnaire survey, aside by open interviews. We selected322junior high school teachers as survey objects, and investigated their professional identity situation in four dimensions-professional value, role value, professional belonging and professional behavior. The research analysis different teachers’ professional identity situations with different ages, genders, academic qualifications, job titles, length of teaching service, posts and salaries.Based on the investigation, we gained the following conclusions:1〠The junior high school teachers from the city of Changsha have high professional identity;(2)Teachers of different ages have obviously different professional identity and role values;(3)Teachers of different genders have obviously different role values;(4)Teachers of different job titles have obviously different professional identity, professional values, role values and professional belonging;(5)Teachers of different length of teaching service have obviously different professional identity, professional values and role values;(6)There exists no obvious differences in professional identity with different academic qualifications, posts and salaries.According to the research conclusion, combined with the theories of pedagogy, sociology, psychology and management, the article analyzed the reasons from aspects of historical tradition, educational situation and region features. At the same time, the article have proposed constructive opinions from four aspects:the government should implement reasonable teacher policies to achieve unify of strict requests and munificent treatment to teacher; the society should provide strong support and pardon to achieve the unity of respect and reasonable expectations to teachers; the schools should carry out modernized management to achieve the unity of the democratic management and humane care; and teachers themselves should be active in self-exploration, in order to achieve the unity of self-worth and professional values. |
