The Conjunction Of Economic Growth With Personal Feeling Of Happiness In China

With the continuously rapid development of China’s economy after reform and opening up, the living condition of our residents has been obviously improved. Most people do not have to worry about food and clothing etc., however, fewer and fewer people feel happy with the growth of wealth. Recalling the days before reform and opening up, the daily life was simple and relaxing, the children had happy childhood and people were always friendly and harmonious with each other. Although people were not rich in that time, they were happy and satisfied as long as getting enough food and clothing. Nowadays, people are living under the increasingly heavy pressure:expensive medical care, education and housing expenses, which like the new "Three Big Mountains". Even more, the increasingly expanding gap between rich and poor people and the growing number of social conflicts make people gradually lose the balance in mind and the sense of security. People focus more on chasing interests rather than caring each other or doing public service. In such a well-fixed society full of material desires, it is not an easy task any more for people to get the happiness. What indeed make people become unhappy, even with the economic growth?Taking the reform and opening up as an entry point, the author respectively elaborates China’s economic growth situation and the residents’ personal happiness status before and after reform and opening up, then analyses the changing relationship between the two aspects in the two different stages. The situation of China’s economic growth and the residents’ personal happiness status before reform and opening up are considered to be a slow rising process. But after reform and opening up, especially after the recent years’ long-term and high-speed economic growth, there also occurs various problems of society and people’s livelihood. On the contrary of the rapid economic growth, the residents’ happiness changes from bad to worse and shows a downward trend. In addition to the reasons of the mode of economic development and social transformation issues, the most fundamental reason is the fanatical "GDP cult" in China, which leads to the blind pursuit of GDP growth by ignoring the problems of social developing and environment protecting. The increasingly inundant idea of "Money First" goes against the idea of happiness, the ultimate goal of which is that people should get the full development. Directly to these reasons, this article attempts to propose the related countermeasures based on the guiding ideology, system and specific measures. We should continually apply the Scientific Outlook on Development, always put people first and accelerate transformation of the mode of economic development. We should adjust the policy of education, health care, housing, employment etc. to buffer conflicts, and try our best to promote the residents’personal happiness synchronizing with the economic growth.
