Primary School In Shandong Province The Parents Committee Construction Problems And Countermeasures

At present，the participation of society in education has become an indispensable factor inthe process of educational development. It can not only encourage the school to keep up withchanges in society, but also promote the reform of education. Without social participation, theschool will not be able to adapt to changes or make necessary improvements in courses. Amongall the social participants, the impact of parents’ involvement is very obvious. And the practicalexperience tells us that the coordination of parent education and school education is decisive toschool education’s effects. The modern organization emphasizes development. If organizationcan’t constantly adjust itself to the changes of external environment, it will probably lose incompetition. The theory and practice at home and abroad has proved that the parent committeebrings lots of benefits, for example, it can promote parents’ participation in school education,integrate education strength. It has become an effective way of home-school co-operation, andplays a key role in improving the quality of school education, especially in the United States,Britain, Japan and other developed countries. Compared with other countries, research on thetheory of parent committees as well as practical experience in our country is still at theexploratory stage. For further exploration and development of parent committee, we shouldmake more efforts in theoretical study, policy support and practice.This paper studies on the parent committees of ten primary schools in Shandong province,using questionnaire survey, case studies and other research methods. And then, this paperanalyzed the results of the survey to reveal the statue of the parent committees and find thereasons from various aspects.The findings of the paper shows that the majority of primary schools in Shandong Provincehave established parent committees and some of them are very successful and bring a lot ofbenefits. However, most of parent committees still remain in the form and do not improve thecooperation and communication. What is worse, some schools use parent committees to copewith superior check. And there are also other problems, for example, parents were not aware ofparent committees, the election procedures of parent representatives are not standardized, and thelack of human resources and financial support. As a result, parent Committee is nearly useless,which calls for the construction of the Parent Committee.To promote the construction and management of the primary school’s Parent Committee,efforts should be made from the following aspects: Firstly, improve the understanding of schoolsand parents, and establish a correct concept. Secondly, strengthen management and improve thestructure of the parent committees. Thirdly, establish training mechanisms to strengthen thetraining of parents and teachers. Lastly, strengthen the system construction and improve the legalsystem.
