The Adjustment Of US-Japan Alliance In The New Century And Its Impact On The Security Of East Asia

In the1950s,the United States built the US-Japan alliance to meet the needs of the Cold War, the alliance during the Cold War played an important role as one of the pillars of the U.S. Asia-Pacific strategy. Accompanied by the end of the Cold War and the disappearance of the common threat,the alliance was not end, on the contrary,the United States and Japan redefined the alliance under the domination of their respective strategic objectives.In the new century, U.S and Japan further amend the alliance,as a result,the alliance structure, form, and operating mechanism have undergone great changes.Since the core area of the US-Japan alliance activities is in East Asia,it’s every move is bound to have a great impact on the region’s security situation.China is in a critical period of all-round development,a stable security environment is of great significance.And how to develop friendly relations with neighboring countries, to establish a deep strategic mutual trust, to overcome the adverse impact of the US-Japan alliance has become an important issue faced by our country.This paper analyzes the trends of US-Japan alliance in the new century, reveals the operation mode of the most active bilateral alliance after World War Ⅱ,and further elaborates the influence for the East Asian security.The whole text is divided into four chapters.First of all, the paper reviews the evolution of US-Japan alliance,discuss the alliance development process from the creation to the late20th century.Then the paper starting from the United States and Japan’s strategic intent to discuss a series of new changes in the new century.After that, the paper focuses on analysis of the relationship between US-Japan alliance and the area security after the adjustments of alliance.It includes the impact caused by the adjustment of US-Japan alliance on the overall security environment in East Asia, as well as the impacts on the Korean issue and the Taiwan issue and other regional hot issues.Finally the paper starting from the subsisting conditions and the existing contradictions of the US-Japan alliance to make a outlook for the prospect of US-Japan alliance and lists some recommendations about China how to deal with the challenges of US-Japan alliance to create a favorable regional environment.
