The Japan-U.S. alliance is one of the most important bilateral relations in the world. As a result of the Cold-War, it should come to its end and become history. However, it gets adjustments, developments and reinforcements continually as well as becoming globalization during the post-cold war's ten years. How has it been developing, what is the reason and what is the influence on the international security situation and China's national security environment, all of these questions are of this thesis trying to answer. This thesis refers the dialectical and historical materialism as its basic guiding theories, history and integration as its principles, analyses the new developments of the Japan-U.S. alliance and the reason from historic and real view. According to important historical events and/or documents, the Japan-U.S. alliance's development during the Post-Cold-War is divided into four phases which are analyzed respectively. The alliance development in the new century is also analyzed from five facets: cooperation character, cooperation scope, alliance character, alliance mechanism and alliance symmetry. The reason of the development of the very alliance during the Post-Cold-War is abundant. The thesis analyzes the reason from three facets--the construction of "Politic Power" identity for Japan and world leader for America as well as the similar ideology of the two countries which is the deepest reason for it.In the last part, the thesis analyzes the influence on Asia-Pacific security situation and China as well as the way China deals with them. For China, the crucial issue is to understand the essence and conflict of the alliance clearly, to play a balance role between the two countries and to pay more attention to national economic development.
