This paper mainly studies US-Japan alliance and Japanese constitutional reform,particularly US and the US-Japan alliance’s influence to Japanese constitutionalreform, to reveal motivation and trends of Japanese seeking to be "Normal State" byconstitutional reform on which basis to explore the prospects for trilateral relationsbetween China, alliance.After Word War II, American authorities established the Japan constitution toprevent from being militarized. After the outbreak of the Cold War, in order tosafeguard its sphere of a influence and preventing the infiltration communism aroundthey world, especially to contain the communist from leading to a "domino" effect inAsia, American’s Japanese policy transfers from containment to fostering. Japan’sdomestic politics situations changed. Conservative right-wing forces kept growingand ignited a debate about the abolition of the Constitution. After the Cold War, theUnited States strengthened the alliance between Japan and the US. However, Pacifistconstitution legally hindered further development of Japan-US alliance. Based on this,the United States publicly asked Japan to revise its constitution, supporting that Japanbecomes a "normal country" and makes contributions to international peace. In viewof the conflicts in East Asia, Japan’s constitution reformation will definitely have aprofound effect on existing security dilemma.By analyzing trilateral relationships, this paper suggests, that China, US andJapan should find a more effective and secure cooperation, gradually expandingbilateral to trilateral, establishing security consultative mechanism aimed atmaintaining regional peace and stability, and to jointly deal traditional security andnon-traditionally security challenges.
