Take Heart As This Conscience

Wang Yangming’s “Mind” is an important system which inherits the mind tradition,advocates human’s subjectivity, constructs and completes a major ancient Chinese ConfucianModel-Mind System. It not only represents the thinking path and life practice which aredifferent from Zhu Xi’s confucianism, but also further develops the basic spirit ofconfucianism to form the confronting pattern of Wang Yangming’s Confucianism and ZhuXi’s confucianism. Over a long period of time, Wang Yangming’s “Mind” was usuallyconsidered as a typical of subjective idealism in the history of Chinese philosophy and thedomestic scholars usually took a negative or derogatory manner. With the further research ofWang Yangming’s “Mind”, scholars begin to study its deep and multi-directional meaningand restore its authentic character.This paper argues that the fundamental position and main implication of the system ofWang Yangming’s “Mind” should be in the category of value philosophy, which is differentfrom the subjective idealism most people has understood. If you use the "naive realism"perspective and method to interpret Wang Yangming’s “mind”, it shall be deviated from itsorigin, which is neither appropriate nor objective. The paper starts from the study of thecontemporary value theory to interpret the core proposition and conception-mind theory,conscience theory, practice theory, work theory, and is focused on the explanation of thethinking path and life practice of Wang Yangming’s “Mind”, that is, the human-oriented valueposition of nothing outside, the ultimate measure of value, the ultimate measure of valuemotivated by conscience, the practice orientation of the value of the unity of knowing anddoing, the guiding direction of the value of four sentence teaching methods, and the valueorientation of bright heart. Finally, we can find the present value of Wang Yangming’s"mind-oriented, conscience-measured" inspires and advices the contemporary people: fromexternal to internal, respect of conscience. Generally, the thesis of the paper is to interpretWang Yangming’s from the perspective of value.
