| Richard Shusterman is one of the most important contemporaryesthetician whose theory of popular art has an increasing influence intoday’s China. With analyzing the popular aesthetic contest incontemporary China,and studying on Shusterman’s art theory in bodydimension, rational dimension and transcendental dimension,it isconcluded that Shusterman’s art theory has a certain reasonablesignificance on establishing perceptual modernity, while partly regardsaesthetic experience as body comfort and neglects aesthetictranscendence, which fails the significance of reality-critical andaesthetic transcendence. It is necessary that we construct the modernityfrom all aspects considering the fact that perceptual modernity isexaggerated partly while rational modernity is serious backward. Whatwe shouldn’t do is to avoid accepting Shusterman’s art theory withoutperceiving and to study critically on the premise of Chinese contest. |
