Research On The Popular Artistic Theory Of Richard Shusterman

Richard Shusterman is a contemporary representative of the neo-Pragmatism Aesthetics. He is also quite well-known in the field of international aesthetics. Now he is the professor of he Atlanta College of Humanities and Philosophic Department ,the teacher of Paris Philosophic College. Shusterman's representative works are Pragmatist Aesthetics (1992), Practicing Philosophy (1997), Performing Live (2000),and so on.Pragmatism aesthetics are developing for nearly half a century, and its developing course includes that ,the first period , the classic pragmatism aesthetics represented by John Dewey's ;and then ,in the transform between analysis aesthetic and pragmatism aesthetics, the new pragmatism aesthetics represented by Richard Rorty ;nowadays the contemporary new pragmatism aesthetics represented by Richard Shusterman. After continuous development, we can see that pragmatism has overcame plenty of their shortcomings, and with the deeply development of the economy , more and more advantages of pragmatism will appear- a kind of active pragmatism.This thesis mainly focused on the popular artistic theory of Richard Shusterman ,especially the pragmatism aesthetic defense on popular art by Richard Shusterman as the center of discussion, and further analysis the specific examples of popular art and finds their functions.In the first part, the thesis discusses the representatives of pragmatism in the development of pragmatism. And analyzes Shusterman's pragmatic theory and his position, Meanwhile, this part will also illustrate Shusterman's innovative"the way of medium".The second part as the main body of this thesis illustrates the popular artistic theory of Richard Shusterman and the pragmatism aesthetic defense on popular art. This part chooses"rap"as the typical example to discuss. At the same time this part also extended to our most popular art-"xiaopin"in our country, and try to find the theoretical value of Shusterman's defense on popular artFinally, the thesis points out the developing prospects of Shusterman's pragmatic aesthetic. In this section, analysis the development of our popular art and high art and shortcomings of the two arts, and tried to use Shusterman's " the position of the disjunctive and including " to solve conflicts between the various arts. And then, the part also points out that the pragmatic aesthetic vision has expanded to the vast field of aesthetic experience.This thesis uses the analysis of theoretical issues, and try to solve some practical problems with that theory., and hope that the thesis will arouse some enlightenment in the academic community.
