Guiding Scripture of Yi ethnic is their religious classic which is used in the religious rites to lead the soul of a deceased person go back to ancestors’birthplace. It shows the returning line and direction for the dead men, and also gives an account of the history progress of ancestors’ migratory development for generations. It also instruct how to meet the danger and difficulty in order to get the destination safely. The Guiding Scripture is an important material to research the historical origin, religious and social. It expresses the faith of Yi ethnic who believe that the spirit is immortal and adore ancestors. It reflects the civilization, migratory history and social development of ancient Yi ethnic, as will as shows the outlook on life that exceeding euthanasia.Under the guidance of theoris and methods of philology and religion theoretical system, this thesis study the Guiding Scripture of Pingdi in Panxian. It has textual researched the geographical names, personal names, article names, and the analytical researched the concrete content to excavate deeply its cultural intension and reveal fully its cultural values about religion and society.This thesis contains three parts:introduction, body and conclusion.In the introduction part, there are general situation of Yi ethnic, and Yi language ancient documents. It also shows the purpose, significance, study trend, research thinking and methods to foreshadows the whole paper.The body is composed by four chapters. The first chapter instructs the inheritance and research situation of Guiding Scripture, main schools of thought ancestory of inherit of Guiding Scripture in Panxian, as well as the origin and version characteristics of Guiding Scripture in Pingdi. As the central part of thesis, the second chapter translates and annotates the Guiding Scripture. Textual criticizes names. The third chapter analyse the religious theories system. It discusses the important significance of the Guiding Scripture for constructing the religious belief system of Yi ethnic from four different angles:religious sense, religious action, religious experience, religious construction. The last chapter focuses on analysising the ancient social life of Yi ethnic. Guiding Scripture reflects many aspects of production and life in ancient social of Yi ethnic, which is a precious historical document in studing the historical civilization and productive life of ancient Yi ethnic.In the part of conclusion, writer sums up the whole thesis, further approach the value and means of translation and studing the Guiding Scripture.
