Zhike is an important part of the imperial examination system in Tang dynasty, whichenriches the variety and diversity of the selection of talent. At present there are relatively fewstudy about Zhike in Tang dynasty,and most of the researches about imperial examination is onthe basis of Changke with incidental mention of Zhike,which not see Zhike as an independentsubject, nor the research direction. Besides,the research about Zhike is not comprehensiveconcrete,and there still are different opinions about open of the Zhike. The researches on theZhike’s contribution to the society, its existing problems, its setting and the relation withpolitical issues are few.This paper mainly discusses the social background of the setting of the Zhike and itsdevelopment with the political changes based on the clue of Zhike in the Tang dynasty, in orderto possibly show the true face of Zhike when it opened in the tang dynasty and do further effortsto promote Zhike researches.This paper includes prologue and text. The text is mainly divided into four chapters:prologue introduces the background of this topic,the academic review,the material basis andinnovative points.The first chapter discusses the history origin of the Zhike in Tang dynasty,which inheritingthe Chaju in Han dynasty and developing to an unique examination form. Then this part analyzesthe gradually improving process of the forms of exam,the establishment of the subject and thesystem for the number of Ceshi which was eventually stereotyped and so on. Finally it analysesthe superiorities of the Zhike in compare with Changke departmen,subjects in the officialdepartment chosen specification,examination of treatment,and be on power quickly aftersuccess.The second chapter mainly reappears the number of Zhike in the Tang dynasty in order toshow more Zhike subjects through the information collection and processing,which couldnarrow the academics differences on the number of Zhike. Then classify the collection of Zhike.Finally show Zhike’s contributions the selection and the poetry of literary and political combinedwith historical materials.The third chapter is basically divided into GaoZuTaiZong period,GaoZongZeTian period,XuanZongSuZong period,DeZong to WenZong two years the four periods to describe closerelationships of the Zhike subject’s changes with the political situation.The appearance of Zhikehad something with rulers’ interests, the social political and the social problems needed to solve.The changes of the contents of Zhike Ce policy are synchronous with the worse politicalsituation in tang dynasty. The fourth chapter firstly analyzes the problems of Zhike when it set up,and potentialunfairness of testers,and the zhike examinations becoming a shortcut to political career for thetesters. Then it analyzes the causes of Zhike’s failure. There are many reasons for this such as thechanges of Jinshi examination contents,and the rise of the chosen subject which replaced theZhike’s role of selecting person,and the deterioration of the external political environment,especially the decline of imperial power which Zhike relied on. Juren caused the contradictionsbetween imperial power and Quan Huan by attacking Quan Huan and criticizing the currentpolitics which lost the original intention to seek the road of governing. defects,Zhike lost thevalue of existence with the defects of the external environment and itself and gradually fadeduntil it stopped with Quan Huan’s attacks.The development of the Zhike in the tang dynasty including its appearance,prosperity,stop is the microcosm of the tang dynasty turning from glory to failure.
