Opera "sicilian Vespers" Main Character Portrayal And Analysis

Taking four main characters in The Sicilian Vespers as research object, thisarticle analyzes respectively their drama image and music image, expoundsthoroughly the character’s personality, inner feelings, the language of music and ariaconcert.. The author analyzes the main aria combined with the personal practicalsinging experience, on the one hand, to give the reader a deeper and comprehensiveunderstanding of the opera; on the other hand, to help the singers express accuratelythe inner feelings when performing and give a better interpretation of this work.The structure of the whole article is as follow:The first chapter briefly introduces Verdi’s life and the created process of hisopera as well as the background, creation process and the plot of this Opera. Thesecond chapter analyzes the drama image of these four characters from theirpersonality and the emotional changes, hoping that the singer can express accuratelythe inner feelings of the characters and better elaborate their drama image. The thirdchapter mainly analyzes the music image of the main roles in order for us to knowbetter how Verdi expresses the inner feelings of the characters and portray theirimages.The fourth chapter analyzes the main aria combined with the personal singingpractice so as to provide some useful suggestions and information to other singerswhen performing. The fifth chapter analyzes the artistic value of The Sicilian Vespersand summarizes its influence to the development of Italian Opera.The author thinks that the objective analysis of opera characterization, its mainballad singing and the processing of the vocal music will be of highly practicalsignificance to the vocal music and its teaching. At the same time, we can improveopera appreciation ability during this analysis process.
