Background: in recent years, as social development and the increasingly fierce competition, the prevalence of insomnia is also increased year by year. Currently, the program of combination of psychological treatment and drug treatment has made a good clinical effect on insomnia in western countries. However, domestic medical territories have not pay enough attention to it, and the related report of the research, of which liver-Qi stagnation syndrome of insomnia is healed with the method of TCM cognitive behavior therapy, has not been seen in literature. Thus, it is necessary to develop a suit of non-drug treatment programs, for liver-Qi stagnation syndrome of insomnia, guided by TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) cognitive behavior therapy.Objective:to develop a set of applied approach for patients with liver-Qi stagnation syndrome of insomnia based on cognitive-behavioral treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, then to examine its operation, practicality and efficacy in clinical practice.Method:1. Methods for literature research: to understand the etiology and pathogenesis of insomnia, and to be informed the current treatment of recent advances in TCM cognitive behavior therapy mainly through studies on the ancient and modern literature.2. Methods for programmer prepared:to develop a complete set of program of TCM cognitive behavior intervention based on the guidance of TCM cognitive behavior therapies such as Qi-Gong, Ba-Duan-Jin. combined with modern cognitive-behavioral therapies; and to design TCM syndrome quantitative volume and sleep index rating quantization tables based on related documents.3. Methods for clinical research: Sixty-eight cases of insomnia patients meeting the criteria of diagnosis are divided into two groups by using random number tables, the experimental group is treated with TCM cognitive-behavioral intervention program, combined with Jieyu Anshen granules in treatment of TCM; while control group is treated only by using Jieyu Anshen granule. Now. we take several effective tables as evaluation tools, such as the Pittsburgh sleep quality index list, sleen apnea index grading quantization tables, TCM syndrome quantitative volume. Athens insomna scale respectively. Then score for two groups of patients before and after treatment and make one month follow-up observation. Through data inspection and rank inspection of collected data, we can get to know the improvement of all sleeping indicators and symptoms of insomnia patients.Results:1. As for two groups of patients before and after treatment, symptoms of insomnia and all sleep indicators improved significantly, difference is statistically (P<0.05).2. After the treatment, experimental groups improved more significantly than the control group in symptoms of insomnia, sleep indicator, and difference is statistically (P<0.05).3. For Athens insomnia scale total score comparison after one month follow-up between experimental and control groups, difference is statistically (P<0.05).Conclusions:This study present the development of TCM cognitive behavior therapy in the treatment of liver-Qi stagnation syndrome of insomnia, with which the clinical curative effect is obvious, More over, the clinical operation of it is convenient, safe and without side effects, and acceptable for patients. It can be applied in clinical treatment according to the actual situation.
