Healthcare reform is one of the most controversial topics in America, which isalso one of the most important policies Obama introduced. However, challenges fromdifferent interest groups brought about many difficulties to his implementation of thereform. Giant interest groups, which possess tremendous financial resources andstrong action ability, are affected greatly by healthcare reform. As a result, they try toaffect the process of the reform through variety of means and produced huge politicalinfluence. It will bring about two advantages to do research on the nature, the way ofinfluencing politics and the efficacy on decision-making of interest groups. Firstly, itwill bring some new thoughts and ideas to the study of domestic politics of America.Secondly, it provides us a deeper understanding on the issue of healthcare reformfrom the perspective of interest groups politics. Based on that study perspective, thisthesis will investigate the influence that healthcare reform caused to relevant interestgroups, their way to react and the result of their behaviors, furthermore this thesis willtry to explain the ideological reason of this phenomenon.Chapter one is a conclusion of interest groups politics in America. Thus we canunderstand the concept, the comment from the public and the political involvementpath of interest groups. Chapter two is an introduction to American medical system,we can find the reason why Obama urges to reform through analyzing the defect ofthe system. Chapter three will introduce the specific content of Obama’s healthcarereform, analyze the influence to different groups and figure out the way they steer thepolicy through combing specific cases. Chapter four will evaluate the positive andnegative influence to healthcare reform, even to American politics. Lastly, the thesiswill seek the favorable experiences from America to provide guidance to Healthcarereform in China.
