Objective:To observe the clinical efficacy of guangtongxiao foam aerosol in the treatment of wound edge edema of mixed hemorrhoids after surgeries, and to explore excellent external formulations and dosage forms for the prevention of the kind of postoperative complication.Methods:82patients were included in the reserch program from February2011to February2012,39males and43females. All the patients met the criteria that they were diagnosed as mixed hemorrhoid in the anorectal ward of our hospital, and received a surgery, and each had got postoperative edema of the wound edge. According to the visiting sequence of the patients, we randomly divided them into the experimental group (n=41) and the control group (n=41). The ages, genders, disease durations, and the original volume sizes of postoperative edema between the two groups were tested statistically (P>0.1). There was no significant difference between the two groups, and they were comparable. All the patients began to receive medication from the first time they got postoperative dressing. The experimental group received aerosol of the guangtongxiao foam sprayed into the anal tube, pressed for one second each time, and then wrapped the wound with gauze, and fixed it with tape securely. The control group was given gangtai paste to cover the wound, and also wrapped and fixed properly. Except this difference, all the other interventions between the two groups were the same. The patients received medication daily, and seven days were defined as a treatment course. We observed and recorded the situation changes of the postoperative edema and pain of anal margin on the third day,the fifth day, and the seventh day, and then collated the relevant information for a comparative study. Results:The total effective rate of the experimental group was95.12%,and the control group was80.49%. The two kinds of drugs could alleviate the signs and symptoms of edema after hemorrhoids surgeries, but when compared with statistical methods, the two groups had significant differences (P<0.05), and the experimental group was significantly better than the control group.Conclusions:1.The guangtongxiao foam aerosol was better than the gangtai paste in the aspects of overall efficacy and the relief of clinical signs and symptoms such as postoperative edema and postoperative pain of anal margin for the treatment of hemorrhoids.2. There were no significant side effects and adverse reactions such as allergic skin diseases during the course of treating postoperative edema with guangtongxiao foam aerosol.3.The guangtongxiao foam aerosol had a advantage of rapid onset, long lasting efficacy, and a wide range of covering which other traditional formulations couldn’t compare to.
