With the development of human society, the history of house is constantly moved forward, for its connected with daily life closely.Article here, mainly, intends to discuss the type of plane layout of Zurich contemporary residence. After the Second World War, Zurich housing construction had been stagnated for a period of time. In recent years, it has been in the age of extensive development. These new-built housing generally have high quality, charactered by paying more attention on building design.This paper, firstly, states multiple factors affecting Zurich housing construction to illustrate the position of its contemporary home and why. Secondly, around city itself, we classify the general layout. From different general layout, three types of housing form are derived:Plane type of great-depth; Plane type of great-bay; Plane type of windmills. And the last part, also the most important part, is Chapter Four. In this chapter, layout of unit plane is analyzed on the organization of function and the composition of space. Accordingly, we conclude the reason of high quality of Zurich residence:integrating those apartments that have similar function to partition the room; concentrated arranging service space to make it in regular shape; making the opening-space face all around; strengthening the liquidity of indoor space.
