Organic polysiloxane with Si-O-Si backbone possesses excellent characteristics of organic and inorganic materials, such as excellent climate resistance, light-penetrating ability, hydrophobicity, breathability, anti-stain property and abrasion resistance. The raw materials for acrylic emulsion are abundant and inexpsensive, the polymer has good properties of film forming, high strength and strong adhesion. The silicone-modified acrylate by emulsion polymerization has the excellent characteristics of high-performance silicone and acrylic latex. The silicone-modified acrylic emulsion is an ideal base material for preparation of ultra-weather resistance exterior house paint. High-performance silicon-acrylic latex paint has excellent climate resistance, alkali resistance, stain resistance and scrub performance.In this thesis, the silicone-modified acrylic emulsion has been prepared by emulsion polymerization and silicone-acrylate water-based architectural coatings were fabricated by this emulsion. The stability of the silicone-acrylic emulsion and the water based coating were studied based on the parameters of polymerization process and the recipes of distilled water, monomers and emulsifier. In addition, the key paramerters, including the initiator, hard and soft monomer, functional monomer and temperature, have been stuied in details.
