Water-based thermal insulation coating has a function of hindering, reflecting and emiting the radiation of the sun. Applied to the surfaces of objects, it can lower the temperature of both outer and inner surfaces without consuming energy. Thus, developing a water-based insulation coating with good performance can produce significantly economic, environmental and social benefits.In this paper, the series of silicon-modified acrylate emulsion were synthesized systematically by adding different content of organic silicon and reaction conditions were also conducted. The results showed that:the overall performance of synthesized emulsion became better under these circumstances of the total monomer content 40% to 45%,3% of emulsifier content,6.5% of silicon content on 250 r/min stirring speed, in the way of pre-emulsion polymerization using the non-ionic emulsifier system/anionic/gender emulsifier as complex system. On the basis, fluorosilicone acrylic emulsions were prepared by a test through FT IR, DSC, TGA, particle size distribution, viscosity and so on. And the two kinds of films were casted by the water absorption, adhesion and hardness test. This article compared the performance of acrylate, silicon modified acrylate, fluorine modified acrylate and fluorine-silicone acrylate thought the test of water resistance, weather resistance, solvent resistance etc. The results show that:fluorine silicon modified emulsion combined the advantages of organic fluorine, organic silicon and acrylic emulsion, which is a good choice as thermal insulation coasting base material.Above the mentioned four emulsions, the modified emulsion became slightly better than the unmodified one on insulation performance and other general performance. The fluoro-silicone acrylate emulsion was chose as the basic material. In addition, four different kinds of fillers were used as the function filler in the thermal insulation coating. The result shows that the order about the insulation effect of the coating was as follow: hollow ceramic beads>hollow glass beads> expanded perlit> sepiolite. However, water resistance, alkali resistance and adhesion of hollow ceramic beads became worse. The research shows that hollow glass bead insulations with small particles are good at preserving heat. Increasing appropriately the amount of hollow glass beads could improve the insulation effect. However, The thickness of coatings may reduce the heat-insulate ability. The amount of the filler should be decided according to the specific circumstances. In summary, when the content of fluorine-silicone acrylate emulsion was 35% to 40%, titanium dioxide was 20% to 30%, hollow glass beads was 5% to 10%, chemicals accounted was 2% to 3% and the rest was water, the preparation of water-based thermal insulation coating is of good overall performance. And the temperature of sample with coating was 4.0℃to 5.0℃above blank one.
