For long time, the militarytransportation work stays around the artificial processing stage, Become the main factorof hindering the military transportation realization fast, accuracy.Therefore, in combining the foundation that characteristics of the militarytransportation work, this paper makes use of the Visual Basic6.0and MapX4.5developed the military transportation geographic information system. This paperfollows to the domestic and international development of the GIS and MGIS, puttingforward the important meaning within the development of military transportation GIS.Analyze and compared three kinds of development method to the GIS, study thecharacteristics and the platform structure of ComGIS, thus made sure that the ComGISis the development platform of the system. The point carries on the research to spacedata structure, the model structure and basic property of MapX. On this foundation, thedesign completes the military transportation GIS, carried out the map manifestation andcontrol, data search, map output etc. GIS function, and the management of theinformation of transportation indemnity. Completed the double toward search, statementand print, synchronous maintenance of space and attribute date. The point elaboratedthat the methods of transportation network breaks the chain processing, topotaxyautomatic generating and the shortest path analysis.
