In recent years, globalization trend has resulted in the appeal for"national revival" once again. More and more countries hope to remain the unique character of their nation in the globalization environment. The establishment of "Confucius Institute" has provided a new platform and chance for cultural understanding and exchange. The close contact after the established Sion-Korea diplomatic relationship makes the popularization of Chinese language more and more necessary for communications. What’s more, the advanced educational system in Korea also contributed to the gradual improvement of Chinese language teaching. In2004, the first international Confucius Institute,"Seoul Confucius Institute" was formally set up in Seoul, Korea. After that, in the following nine years, Confucius Institutes and Confucius classes in Korea have mushroomed up, with an addition of21. Faced with the development of Confucius Institute, we also have some problems to deal with, that is, the experience exploration in teaching mode for Chinese language in Confucius Institutes, the teaching mode characteristics of Korea Confucius Institutes, the weaknesses they have, and the best teaching mode suitable for Korea Confucius Institutes, which will be involved in this study.During the two years’ work in Korea Confucius Institutes, the author made many on-the-spot investigations and information collections on teaching conditions in Dongseo University Confucius Institute, Chungnam National University Confucius Institute, Soonchunhyang University Confucius Institute and Dae Jin University Confucius Institute in Korea. By means of questionnaires, interviews, literature summary, case studies and case analysis, field interviews, qualitative and quantitative research methods, the author analyzed the teaching mode characteristics of Korea Confucius Institutes, summarized their advantages and disadvantages on a theoretical level, and gave some suggestions. So far studies made on teaching mode in Korea Confucius Institutes has been rare, so the author hopes this study will provide some new ideas to the development of Chinese language teaching in Korea Confucius Institutes.This study consists of six chapters: Chapter1:Overview. This chapter is mainly about background and significance of this study, and generally describes the preliminary studies on domestic Confucius Institutes and teaching mode of Korea Confucius Institutes. The overview of this study, showed in chart, states the number of thesis and their research interests, and summarized existing disadvantages of Confucius Institutes mentioned in them. Besides, the goal and research methods of this study and are introduced in this part.Chapter2:Existing condition of Korea Confucius Institutes. This chapter is mainly about general conditions of Korea Confucius Institutes. According to on-the-spot investigation and two years’of working experience in Korea, the author summarizes conditions related to the establishment, the main functions and teachers of Korea Confucius Institutes, providing detailed information for the study of Confucius Institutes in Korea. It is a bright spot of the study.Chapter3:Study on domestic and foreign Chinese language teaching mode. This chapter is mainly about the concept, composition characteristics and type of teaching mode as well common Chinese teaching mode. Based on previous investigation and studies, the author summarizes the bright spots as well as disadvantages of Chinese language teaching in Korea, concerning Chinese learners of Korea, textbooks and teaching structure.Chapter4:Analysis on teaching modes adopted in Korea Confucius Institutes. This chapter, the key of this study, focuses on Dongseo University Confucius Institute, Chungnam National University Confucius Institute, Soonchunhyang University Confucius Institute and Dae Jin University Confucius Institute in Korea. It introduces the general conditions in the four Confucius Institute, discusses and analyzes teaching modes in the four Institutes in terms of teaching object, arrangement of courses, usage of textbooks, teachers, and examination and evaluation systems. It summarizes the existing characteristics and disadvantages of Confucius Institutes in Korea.Chapter5:Suggestions on teaching modes of Korea Confucius Institutes. Based on the results from chapter4, in this chapter, the author gives suggestions on improvement of teaching modes used in Korea Confucius Institutes, in terms of "teaching method","course arrangement"," teacher training" and " research and development of textbooks". In terms of teaching mode, there are some differences between Confucius Institutes in East Asia Cultural Circle and European and American countries. The author hopes this study will somewhat benefit to the development of Korea Confucius Institutes. Appendix. In chapter4, to deeper analyze and study the learners in Korea Confucius Institutes, the author made some random questionnaires and interviews on83students from the four Confucius Institutes, and analyzes the learning motivation of different ages of Chinese language learners in Korea Confucius Institutes. This chapter is about the questionnaire contents on83interviewees.
