Huidaomen is’evil cults’in days of the empire, which is a general designation of popular religions. There are many names in the literature of the Communist Party of China, such as Huimen, Daomen, Daohuimen, and they are called Huidaomen finally.The movement of Huidaomen banned by the C.P.C. was a part of Movement to suppress counter-revolutionaries in1950s. It attempted to eradicate all the popular religions inherited from the old days and old government in the ways of mobilization of whole people. From then on, Huidaomen was broke up, got away, or hidden, which is illegal on the Chinese mainland. It was the time of great sociological changes in China, and the last time of public activities of Huidaomen.Huidaomen was banned designedly and extensively during the social transition period in Shandong, which shaped a terrible atmosphere. The banning movement was pushed ahead by the government.The banning policies were widespread by means of a good publicity, which aroused people’s awareness of classes. People started to hate and be far from Huidaomen, which was in favor of the movement. Huidaomen is disappeared though the movement, but it keeps revival because of special beliefs and complicated social environment.Huidaomen is varied, widespread and influential. The Movement of banning Huidaomen is a great mass movement, as well as a great ideological remolding movement. In the way of a political movement, it cleaned the old and heretical minds of all people, underlined the political authority, incorporated people’s beliefs into state political life, and broke all kinds of bonds of old convention, realizing the increased nation-building since the early20th century.
