A Translation Project Report Of The Tale Of Besty Butterfly(Chapter1-Chapter11)

This is a translation project for The Tale of Besty Butterfly, one of the manybooks Arthur Scott Bailey wrote for children. The first11chapters of the book havebeen translated under the guidance of Skopos Theory, as the translator giving toppriority to those potential young readers’ expectations, hoping to help them learnsomething while enjoying this story.This report consists of5parts. Chapter One is a brief of the background andsignificance of the project and the structure of the report.Chapter Two introduces thethe source text and its author. Chapter Three introduces Chinese translators renownedfor their translations of Children’s literature, followed by a brief description of Skopostheory, a theory that guides the translation project. Chapter Four is about thedifficulties encountered and corresponding solutions. The difficulties lie in how tomake the translation suitable for children and solutions mainly include carefulwording choice and adequate inclusion of knowledge and common sense that arenecessary but unfamiliar to children. The last chapter summarizes some experienceand lessons from this project and problems to be solved.
