Translation is not only a transformation between two languages, but also a process of intercultural communication. As an indispensible part of culture, literary works play an important role in Chinese and foreign cultural exchanges and the translation of literary works promotes the communication between different cultures. The translation of children’s literature not only makes domestic young readers enjoy different cultural feast but also appreciate the charm of exotic culture. This is a project report on the translation of Fog A Dox written by an Australian writer Bruce Pascoe. The original work is a story of friendship, hope, respect, acceptance and love. The dialogue is finely crafted and indigenous cultural knowledge and awareness are seamlessly integrated into the story. Under the guidance of Skopos Theory and by reviewing and analyzing the translation process and representative cases, this report explores two aspects of children’s literature translation:how to ensure quality through pre-translational preparations and post-translational management and how to achieve readability, acceptability and similarity of the style.During the translation practice, the information of the original text is delivered through cases study of vocabulary, syntax, rhetoric and discourse under the guidance of Skopos Theory. For example, children’s reading expectation is achieved by using colloquial words, four-character structure and modal words; precision and smooth of the translated text is achieved by dividing long and difficult sentences and the vividness is achieved through flexible handling of figures of speech. This translation practice makes the author realize the importance of practical experience and Chinese knowledge. And compared with other types of translation, the translation of children’s literature requires the translator not only to convey the original text message, but also to convey the original artistic style.
