Tang dynasty has the largest number of Ci Fu than ever before. The stylistics ofCi Fu didn’t complete its development until Tang dynasty. Fu in Tang dynasty plays avery essential role in the history of Ci Fu development. Liu Yuxi is one of therepresentatives Ci Fu writer in Tang dynasty. There are only eleven Ci Fu works ofLiu Yuxi left today.Thought of Confucianism is highly respected and recommended in Tang dynasty.For example, editing classic works of Confucianism, combining the Buddhistscriptures and spreading Confucianism theories. Li Yuan said he was the latergeneration of Lao-Tzu. Therefore Dao theories were high spoken in Tang dynasty.Besides, Buddhism was also very popular in Tang dynasty. No matter the emperor orcommon ordinary people deeply believe the Buddhist scriptures at the bottom of heart.Many scholars of that age began to study the Buddhist scriptures. So Confucianism,Buddhism and Dao existed at the same time in Tang dynasty. Liu Yuxi’s thoughtswere influenced by three religions and were the mixture of Confucianism, Buddhismand Dao. The failures of official career didn’t make Liu Yuxi understand the meaningof bareness in Buddhist scriptures and the inaction theories in Dao. Thought of joiningsociety of Confucianism seemed to take a leading role in his mind.Liu Yuxi insisted that all measures taken in the reform of Yong Zhen age werecorrect. Unfortunate banished experiences influence him very much. Liu Yuxi alwayswanted to argue for the members of Yong Xi reform. Government officials wereriddled with corruption in the mid-age Tang dynasty. The emperor indulged himselfwith fame and lost his power. The eunuchs dominated the country and the splittismbecame to appear, both of which influence the development of mid-age Tang. Becauseof the failure of Yong Zhen reform, Shun had to abdicate and members of Yong Zhenreform were punished. Change of Gan Lu in the ninth year of Da He made eunuchs’dictatorship even harder. The situation of eunuch’s dictatorship and the splittism madeLiu Yuxi express his reflection and anxiety in his works.Liu Yuxi holds the idea of joining the society and accounting to something. Heparticipated in the Yong Xin reform. He was banished to go to Lang state, Lian state,Kui state and He state one by author within22years, which gave him a great shock inofficial period. At the same time, the failure in official career changed his writingstyle. The failure emotion and compliment affect were found in his works of this period. Meanwhile he had positive affective attitude and didn’t expect to live a quietand peaceful life because of the banished experience. Liu Yuxi was always full filledwith hope for government. He wanted to be back to his prior position. His Fu oftendescribe sadness of disbanded people, confusion and anxiety meanwhile there wereambitions expressed in his Fu. Because Liu Yuxi spent much time in Chu kingdom,his writing style was influenced by the custom of Chu. His Fu often describes sceneryand custom of Chu.
