A Comparison Of The Classical Poems Among Li Bai, Du Mu And Li Shangyin

During the late Tang Dynasty, the creation of the poems of recalling antiquity has come into fashion and become a kind of very important creating phenomenon.Li Bai is one of the most famous poet in the High T'ang. The famous poets Li Shangyin and Du Mu in the late Tang dynasty are called"the famous poet xiao Li Du",whose creation of poems of recalling antiquity is very typical and first-rate.Based on comparative study about the poems of recalling antiquity from Li Bai,Du Mu and Li Shangyin , the thesis explores the features of the poems of recalling antiquity during the whole Tang dynasty and makes analysis in several aspects belowFirst, the thesis makes a conclusion about the relationship between the poems of recalling antiquity and the poems on history,defines the connotation of the poems of recalling antiquity and analyzes the similarities and differences between the poems of recalling antiquity and the poems on history.Chapter 1 The thesis compares the poems of recalling antiquity of Du Mu with Li Bai's. first, the thesis compares the technique expression of Du Mu's with Li Bai's. Du Mu's poems of recalling antiquity lay on the comments while Li Bai's lay on expressing feelings. Du Mu is good at adopting rhetoric method of assumption to creat the poems of recalling antiquity,however Li Bai does well in adopting rhetoric method of imaging to creat poems. Second, the"Gu"mentioned by Du Mu and Li Bai are different. Li Bai expresses his feeling in"Gu"while Du Mu is out of the"Gu"and treat history events rationally. Finally, it compares artistic style of poems of Du Mu's with Li Bai's poems. Li Bai's poems are blond and elegant while Du Mu's poems are high broad-minded.Chapter 2 The thesis compares the poems of recalling antiquity of Li Shangyin with Du Mu's. firstly, it makes the comparision between the two poets'thoughts. The poems of recalling antiquity of the two poets both satire the king and both of the poets are sentimental for having unrecognized talents. The contents of Li Shangyin's poems are serious and Du Mu's poems are positive.secondly, the thesis makes the comparision about the expression of the poems of recalling antiquity. The two poets like to use comparative rhetoric method. Li Shangyin is good at using"Xing"while Du Mu is good at using"Fu". Li is good at using idioms while Du seldom uses them. Finally, the thesis makes the comparision about artistic style of the poems of recalling antiquity. Li shangyin's poetry is mild, indirect and obscure while DuMu's poetry is direct ,high-spirited and vigorous.The thesis aims at exploring the creation of the poems of recalling antiquity during the whole late Tang Dynasty by compararing the poems of recalling antiquity of"Xiao Li Du",in order to explore the features of the poems of recalling antiquity during the whole Tang Dynasty.Chapter 3 The thesis compares Li Shangyin's poems of recalling antiquity with his poems on history in the aspects of content and technique of expression. In the aspect of content, they are both from history and reflect the reality by history, however,there are some differences between them,not only in the range of chanting, but also in the relationship of chanting objects and poets. The rage of chanting in the poems of recalling antiquity is narrower than the poems on history. Poets must visit chanting objects by themselves and creat the poems of recalling antiquity. In the aspect of technique of expression, Li Shangyin is good at adopting satirical technique to create the poems of recalling antiquity and the poems on history. Those are similiarities. But the differences are that poems of recalling antiquity created by Li Shangyin lay on the description about antiques while the poems on history lay on historical events.This hope a comparison of the classical poems among Li Bai ,Du Mu and Li Shangyin,,will be introduced to High T'ang and liu cups of the poem was composed, and then examine High T'ang to liu period of poetry written by a mere sentimental archaism.
