| Along with the rising of China’s national economy, the enhancement of China’s national comprehensive strength, and the increasing influence over international affairs, global attentions from all over the world have focused in China more ever, which lead into the enthusiasm in learning Chinese. As this enthusiasm keeps going up, textbook editing has been taken the significant position on the research for teaching Chinese as second language. This paper discusses the editing problems of teaching materials that require adjustments in order to improve the quality of the Chinese teaching textbooks for foreigners from the point of compilation.Normally it is used in the study of textbook editing either by the crosswise comparison in the textbooks of the same kind, or by the historically longitudinal comparison. However, this paper innovatively compares the textbooks for teaching Chinese as second language with the ones for teaching English as second language that have a long publishing history. Even though Chinese and English languages are different and unique, they must share the common characters during the teaching as second language. To make a clear and concise distinguish between the two kinds of textbooks, this paper gives a contrastive analysis from New Practical Chinese Reader and New Concept English, the two classical textbooks of teaching as second language. By thoro comparison, this paper probes into the success parts of New Concept English, a world-famous course, surveying it with world-most-advanced constructivism learning theory. To promote the devolopment of textbook editing for teaching Chinese as second language, the paper gives a few suggestions on how to avoid defects by striving after the scientific, practical, and customized suceeded experience of New Concept English. |
