Mirror Real Life

The society is made up of family cells, and social economy and superstructure are embodied in its construction. Family is based on marriage between men and women, and the link of family is kinship. The state of mind and material living conditions of various stratums of society are reflected from the side of the family life. Art is one of manifestation form of social life, and its selected topics are of great significance. The family theme because of its uniqueness, has attracted the attention of most artists. Painters depict the sitter’s life bit by bit,"their" growth experiences and spiritual path, and the viewer can understand the "story" behind the screen paintings. Today, China is experiencing the change from all aspects of politics, economy and culture to the social structure, and this trend is bound to bring the family wrapped in. This thesis attempted to explore the family theme in the contemporary Chinese painting.First, the study defined contemporaneity, the connotation and specialty of family theme. The second chapter started to analyze the reality context from the family theme-the context of the contemporary world and the social and cultural background-to explore the unique painting languagemanifestation of contemporary Chinese painting of family theme and the reasons formed, in order to pave the way for the subsequent discussion. Chapter Ⅲ explored the characterizations the contemporary paintings presented, and experienced in-depth the significance of the family theme of contemporary Chinese painting, and analyze the unique performance from actual cases presented by artists through the theme. Chapter Ⅳ extended the common of Chinese Contemporary Painting from interpretation the feature of the family theme in the previous chapters, for example, showing the humanistic concerns on living condition of the moment people through depicting everyday life in the current; arousing the sympathy of the viewers to express feelings through depicting life in paintings is the internal reason for a work of art to survive. The study attempted to guide the later paintings through analyzing the occurrence of the background of contemporary painting and the exploration to the painting language and artistic forms of artists. Some implications are concluded from the exploration process of artists to paintings.
