| Human beings have been pregnant with the dream in pursuit of a perfect life and world. The so-called utopia has been embodied vividly in literary subjects surpassing the limit of time and territory. The article puts the emphasis on the analysis of the utopia embodied in the novels and its significance in the different periods of Dynasty of Korean times by taking as object of analysis the three representative works of Dynasty of Korean classic novels, combining the general understanding of the concept of utopia in the eastern and western cultures, which is of great academic significance in the study of the background in pursuit of utopia of the scholars in Dynasty of Korean times, the form of utopia constructed in the subject matter of the novels by the writers, and the influence of the utopian consciousness upon the progress of history and the development of literature.In the preface in the first chapter are accounted the purpose and meanings of the study of the selected topic and a survey of the research result and method of the three works by mainly adopting the methods of sociology and phenomenology and a reasonable application of the other methods of literary critical inquiry.The main body of the article in chapter two is divided into three parts, dealing with the definition of utopia in the classic novels of Dynasty of Korea including concepts and categories; and comes then a specific analysis of the forms of utopia embodied in three novels, Jinaoxinhua, Biography of Hong Jitong, Biography of Xu Sheng, and the different meanings reflected in these articles.The third chapter is a summary of the full text as conclusion.It has been reflected that the form of expression of utopia, from the fantasy type in pursuit of surpassing of secularity, to those get-over type getting away from feudal social systems, till the innovational type aiming at reforming the realistic social systems, as reflected in the classic novels in different times of Dynasty of Korea has gone through a process of perpetual succession and thorough evolution, through which the philosophical thoughts running through Dynasty of Korean times and the process of the construction of the social systems can be explored. In a manner of speaking, the utopia embodied in the novels not only reflects the problems existed in the then social systems but also depicts a rough blueprint of a utopia.It can be seen that novels embodying utopia not only plays a important part in laying a foundation for the development of the novels in literary history of Dynasty of Korea but also mirrors the trend of the time and has great significance in realizing social ideal goals. |
