Research On Mou Yan And Ling Yang Anthology

After the Southern Song perished, many old adherents were living in seclusion, forming poetry societies and mutual singing or hiding behind doors to write books which express their aspirations. Mou Yan was a scholar in the end of the Song Dynasty. He had a very deep family history and was good at poetry. But he lost positions after offending Jia Sidao. In Yuan Dynasty, he still didn’t participate in politics, but built mentorship with his son, discussing the classical works and writing articles. He had a corpus called Ling Yang Anthology with twenty four volumes, which includes six volumes of poetry and eighteen volumes of essays. His son, Mou Yingfu, took the job of editing and publishing his book later.The poetry and article of Mou Yan were both well known in the early days of the Yuan Dynasty. His view about poetry was similar to Dai Biaoyuan, Qiu Yuan, he followed Dai Biaoyuan in practice. As to the aesthetic part about poetry, Mou Yan has his own opinion; he appreciated the style which formed in the glorious period of the Tang Dynasty. His article with a easy style was affected by Neo-confucianism in certain degree.Basing on the previous research of other people, I carry out my analysis and exploration, also in order to help other researchers make a better use of this corpus. The article is divided into four parts:The first chapter research and describe the family background an friendships of Mou Yan by the existing historical data. The second chapter gives a brief introduction to Ling Yang Anthology by using the knowledge of version bibliography and textual criticism. The third chapter focuses on the ideological content and details the poetry. Chapter four appreciates the article of this corpus by taking the essays, preface and postscript text as representative. The appendix is the poetry collenction outside of Ling Yang Anthology.
