Composing the structure of "antecedent+proverb+consequent" and a whole semantic entity, the discourse chunk can be labeled as "chunk of proverb discourse". The "chunk of proverb discourse" forms some different progression patterns on the basis of arrangement of theme and rheme, including identical theme pattern, identical rheme pattern, continuing pattern, intersectional pattern and derivative pattern. By means of lexical cohesion, reference and phonetic effect, the "chunk of proverb discourse" achieves its coherent in the discourse, inside which forming some kinds of semantic link.Viewing the "chunk of proverb discourse" as a whole entity in the discourse and searching for its location, distribution and pragmatic effects can make our study on proverbs and the structure of discourse more comprehensive and creative. |
