This paper discusses the design of public space as one of the areas of informationdesign applications wayfinding system, based on visual communication angle, from twoangles of the urban public space, and information design to expand the comprehensivestudy, found the existing and effective based on this solution.With the accelerating process of urbanization, urban re-planning andtransformation, population migration and three-dimensional flow of city traffic, thecity’s spiritual and cultural construction, the city’s information technology developmentcontinues to accelerate. More efficient use of space in a limited urban area, making thehigh-rise buildings, overpasses, underground block emerging urban space more andmore high-density and complexity, it is often difficult to easily identify the direction,there is an urgent need to effectively convey information wayfinding system to guidepeople to find their destinations. Urban public space without a clear functionalwayfinding system, wayfinding system convey a clear and effective information to thecore, through the complex information comb, architecture and visual creative expression,and specific information to convey and easy the audience’s understanding, acceptance,and for the audience to provide information terminal product or service design.The city’s wayfinding system and the public’s daily life is closely related, havebeen building with the city of features and style, both passed the city’s cultural artsinformation, the city’s economic strength, but also reflects the public’s quality of life.Today, the large-scale urban transformation, museums and other public space to be built,the wayfinding system, increasing demand for the existing wayfinding system, there arestill many problems. Wayfinding system to achieve the overall development must be aclear expression of information as a starting point, a comprehensive, integrated systemdesign concept.
