Mr. Tong Qingbing is China’s well-known contemporary literary and art theorist.Hepublished his first academic papers in the1960s. And Tong has been worked very hard forthe academic in the past50years, even in the special period has never relaxedthe requirements on themselves. His essay has made an outstanding contribution topromote the development of Chinese contemporary literary and art theory, which isrich and profound, involving a wide range of outstanding achievements.This thesis is based on the theory of Tong’s and divided into three chapters. The ChapterOne summarizes Tong’s most important literary theoreticalresults-the Aesthetic Characteristics of the Literary Nature, which is the core and perpetualpart of Tong’s Literary and art theory. The second chapter mainly elaborates a seriesof original theory which is beyond the content and form of opposition that posted by Tong:the first section is the conquer between content and form, i.e. borrow the theme as anintermediary to establish relationship between content and form; the second sectionis about the literary activity of the Intermediary and the literary activities as ageneral intermediary social psychology and a special intermediary Art Style; the thirdsection is a cultural theory of poetics which study of literary texts from the dual point ofview in culture and poetics. The third chapter discusses the specific ways of Tong’sthinking in Literary Theory, Tong also vital way of thinking such as systems theory andinterdisciplinary research methods.In addition, Tong also has very creative views in the debates of academic aestheticideology and research methods of ancient literature theory.
