The worldwide “Chinese Fever”has put forward higher standard for the TCFL principles, methodsand skills. During language teaching,the design of teaching content can best embody teaching ideas.Teaching design plays a vital role to improve teaching methods and optimize the effect of classroomteaching.The teaching principle of “Combining Structure, Function and Culture”, which is in line with the lawsof language teaching, has been proposed in The Standards and Outlines of Chinese Proficiency Level in1988. But the formation of teaching principles only stays in teaching theory layer. How to implement thetheory for teaching design and how to carry it out in actual teaching are the key points of teaching research.This thesis has selected the text Lucky Numbers (Written by Young Jizhou and Published on the textbookChinese Course Volume II) as a sample. Based on theories of linguistics, pedagogy, psychology and otherrelated disciplines, it sets teaching objectives and instruction procedure plan after analyzing the textsystematically by following the principle of “Combining structure, function and Culture”. It focuses on themisunderstandings in current culture teaching and how to effectively integrate cultural factors into actualteaching.In second language teaching, the consensus of training interpersonal skills has been reached in currentteaching profession. As the main function of language is interaction and communication, classroomactivities should be conducted through real communications. This text Lucky Numbers is interesting,communicative and cultural, so this thesis has increased the proportion of cultivating interpersonal skills inteaching design and attached importance to purposeful listening and speaking practice in vocabulary,syntax and pragmatics modules. The teaching content design in this thesis mainly follows the principle oftopic first and truly cultures the communicative ability through the topic designing of activities about theteaching of cultural factors.The purpose of this thesis is not only to help learners to study the text Lucky Numbers, but also tomake a contribution to improve the level of teaching Chinese as a second language, through discussinginstructional design theory and methods with Chinese language teachers and summarizing some experienceconducive to the comprehensive understanding of language teaching.
