As a foreign context that was introduced from western into China, postmodernism has existed over twenty years in China since the late half of the1980s. As far as we know, postmodern culture stresses on the techniques of game, parody and irony, which has the greatest formative effect on Chinese comedy, so it is very important and valuable to analyze the Chinese comedy genre films in the context of postmodernism. China has the special forms of politics, economy and culture, furthermore, the Chinese social context and mainstream culture is not totally attuned to postmodernist culture, so as a kind of type, Chinese postmodern comedy films have their own characters of aesthetics. The subject content of these films always show a sublime theme behind the technique of deconstructionism; the characters shaped in most Chinese postmodern comedy films are Marginal figures involve a more serious center; most of these films narrate stories in assembling some scattered images into an integrated work of art; the style of audio-visual language currently presents a kind of cinematic spectacle which is absurd and subversive. On the other hand, the subversion, nihilism, skepticism and decadence resulted from postmodernism can have an adverse effect on the creation of Chinese comedy films. There is depth digestion, rebellion against traditions and one-sided pursuit of carnival visual effect emerged in some Chinese postmodern comedy films.For a better and further research on Chinese postmodern comedy films, this thesis consists of three parts:in the first part, the origin and development of Chinese contemporary comedy films was presented by elaborating post-modernistic culture and thoughts of the West; the second chapter takes some of Chinese contemporary comedy films for example, then analyzes the aesthetic characters of these postmodern comedy films; at last, the third part criticizes a few Chinese postmodern comedy films that are all about spoof and copycatting, I hope my paper can do help and make a contribution to the study of Chinese contemporary comedy films.
