In Chinese language teaching, each teacher should fully understand the tendency of studentslearning styles. Students also need to understand their own learning style tendencies in order tooffset their own weaknesses and improve their Chinese learning finally. We know the Chineselearning styles of students in each country are different. Are the different learning styles relatedto the different cultural backgrounds and national characters? In this study, we willsystematically describe learning style and national character theory, and survey 54 Koreanstudents learning Chinese in Shandong Normal University and Jinan University, usingquestionnaires and observation method to research learning style from multi-dimensions. It aimsto investigate the relationship between learning styles of Korean students and Korean nationalcharacter, providing information for the teaching of Chinese language.The main part of the paper consists of seven parts. The first part is preface. The second partis an overview of learning styles. The third part is an overview of the national character.Thesetwo parts are the theoretical basis and foundation of the whole research and discussion. Part fouris divided into study design and implementation two parts. The fifth part is a discussion andanalysis of survey results, including the overall tendency of the Korean students learning style,classroom observation and summary of the national character, and discussions. The sixth part iscombining the learning style characteristics with the ethnic uniqueness to raise appropriate teaching strategies and recommendations. Part seven is a summary of the conclusions of the study andthe outlook for future research.The results show that learning styles of Korean students are like the following. Theperceptual learning style is mainly influenced by the Confucian tradition and cultural thinking.Cognitive learning style is mainly including the sequence type, contemplative type and field dependent type.These mainly due to the collective consciousness of the Korean group concept, self-esteem and traditional thinking. Personalized learning style is mainly export-oriented, that is determined by the Korean national nature and aggressive factors in thenational character. Motivational factors in emotional learning styles have a significant tendency. Through discussions, we know that certain Korean students learning style and national character are correlated. |
