Movie posters have born with the development of the film industry.Now it has becomea graphic art, which not only plays an important role in the movies,but also a kind ofculture. The creation of the movie poster is different from general graphic design work ofcreation. Movie posters is second artistic creation which designer absorbs movie contentand spirit. Movie posters should reflect is not only the author’s own art thought,production level and imagination, but also reflect the style feature, artistic characteristicsand connotation develops of film. Except for artistic value, movie poster also promote thecommercial value of movie. Especially,with the fierce competition of movie today,function and value of movie posters is becoming more and more important.There aremany audience who go into the cinema because they have witnessed the style of theposter frist.Visual psychology study a phenomenon of the effect made by the outside worldthrough the visual image of our psychological organ, which is a kind of further process bythe external to internal. With the guide of visual psychological factors theory,it haspractical significance that combines the movie poster design with visual psychologythought process. Visual forms of expression is different with language and words, whenwe use visual form to annotate a kind of thinking,it is more close to use emotional modeof humenbeing. So,when we use visual symbol to convey information, it should bring thesubjective initiative by our own visual perception, so as to achieve the resonance of thepsychological level.The paper mainly aimes at the development of movie poster design,which studys theinfluence of visual psychological factors on the movie poster design with the angle ofvisual psychological. First the paper analysis present situation of design of domestic andforeign movie poster, and makes movie poster elements as the research object, based onthe theory above the paper elaborates the unique function of visual psychology in movieposter design. And the paper further analyzes how the visual psychological factors play therole in the movie posters design, make full use of visual psychology to guide the movieposter design.
