| As the integration of global economy and the rapid development of China’seconomy as well as the increase of international exchange, the contact betweenChina and Russia is increasingly close. More and more Chinese come to Russia toget money. They come from different Chinese dialect regions, and to adapt toRussia’s business life, their language and language use, language attitude will changeaccordingly.The language use and language attitudes are study filed with Chinese trader inNovosibirsk, Russia study object using field survey to investigate180traders inBaraxolka market, which based on social linguistic theory and research method. Thebasic language situation is described, including traders’ use of language, languageability and language attitude.It is showed that traders’ overall ability of mandarin is relatively low beforegoing to Russia. After coming to Russia, facing the Chinese traders from variousprovinces of China, traders’ ability of mandarin improves a lot, especially thefrequency of mandarin use increases. Traders’ overall level of Russian is low beforegoing to Russia. After coming to Russia, Russian as the main or even the onlycommunication language to carry out business activities, traders’ ability of Russian isgreatly improved.The situation of traders’ language choice is investigated facing different objectson different occasions. It is showed dialects and mandarin is alternately used before theycome to Russia. After coming to Russia, language use has group variation: dialect isused among the same countryman most of the time, communication functionbetween Russian and mandarin alternates.Traders’language attitude is analyzed as toaesthetic evaluation, practical evaluation and the willingness of language learning,which shows traders’ attitudes towards dialect, mandarin, Russian and English.Overall evaluation as to hearing first comes mandarin; Affinity, dialect is theimportant tool of emotional appeal. The practical value, Russian, mandarin is thoughtto be of great practical value. Status value, English is of more status. And further thedifferent social variables in attitude towards language analyzed. Finally, the trend oflanguage use of traders group is predicted with Mandarin and English much moreimportant, Russian the most competitive and dialect facing challenge.This study has enriched the basic social linguistic research providing somereference for the formulation of national foreign language policy implementation andproviding true and reliable materials for language resource protection, utilization andexpansion of the language market. The survey can be used an instance for theoverseas Chinese language use and can predict language development trend ofChinese trader groups also can provide a reference basis for Russian teaching inmajor colleges and universities and for foreign language training market. |
