Because of the geographic environment, in ancient China, the area is naturally divided into two parts: nomadic area and agricultural area. The Nomadic People mainly lived in the north area. For they chose their living place according to water and pasture, their small living environment was not fixed, and so they had to move around to meet their living need. In the opposite, there was the Han Nationality, who mainly lived on farming. They had a fixed living environment and depended on farming to meet their need. There were always some small or big conflicts and fights occurring between the Nomadic People and the Han Nationality. Historically, the Nomadic People moved southward to invade central area rule-based rather than aimlessly. The continuous intrusions were always started a certain fixed rout which was formed into a military channel later for the Nomadic People to invaded southward.This article will discuss the Qingshui River as the center ,comb the events of Northern nomads in history moving south into the River in details. by this case,and pass, Rivers, valleys, city defense History of military geographical factors to Sketch the Northern ancient military road south valley water ,then discuss the Qingshui valley’s important role and status between Central Plains Dynasty and Northern nomads.The thesis analyzes a so-called Qingshui valley for Nomadic People southward on base of Historical Geography, Ethnology, Historical Materials, Archeological Materials and Site-study. This study benefits our current scholars to study well the Historical Geography of west-north area, especially the Historical Military Geography and the Historical Ethnic Group Geography. This study can also contribute to the study of current military geography and traffic building.
