A Study On The Editing Process Of Music Media: A Comparison Between Music Journal And Newspaper

Music journals and newspapers are very important part of contemporary mass media of music dissertation. They are the bridges between audiences and artists, and also the platform for academic and practical music study.This article perceives "Journal of Nanjing Arts Institute·Music & Performance" and "Music Weekly" as the reference objects. "Nanjing Art Institute of Music and Performance" "Journal of Nanjing Arts Institute·Music & Performance"(quarterly) is an academic publication about music theory, issued at home and abroad, a journal source of Chinese Social Science Citation Index (CSSCI)."Music Weekly" was founded in May 1979, originally called "Beijing Music Report." Now it is in charge of Beijing Newspaper Group and sponsored by "Music Weekly" editorial department, and becomes a significantly influential and publicly issued professional music newspaper."Music and Performance," as an academic Journal about music theory, reflects the academic sensitivity and journal orientation in terms of column setting, graphic and format design. "Music Weekly" as a kind of music newspaper, taking music news as core contents, music reviews section as the main window. The concise, lively and innovative format and theme fully manifest the personality characteristics of music newspaper.Through a study on a development course a Journal, the layout of content and column and the design of binding and format, we can see the different working methods and characteristics between music journals and newspapers, as well as their editing processes. Although the editing work of music journal and newspaper may have some common characters with others of different categories and disciplines, it has more specific characteristic itself. We should follow the three principles: systematization, orientation and creativity. Having a good grasp of the different characteristics of editing work of journal and newspaper, can show their respective strengths, which will help us understand editorial work of music journal and newspaper, and better guide the practice of music edit.
