Research On The Possibility And Route Of Social Work Intervening Medical System In China

Medical social work plays an important role in modern health care system. Medical social workers have become an integral part of medical team in Europe, the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Medical social work started late in China, and education of social work developed prior to practice of social work. In the field of medical social work, the related comprehensive study has not been established, and is lacking in high level of practical cases and effective policy support. Doctor-patients conflicts, the pressure of patients and the inherent problems of medical system have become increasingly prominently. The current medical system has been unable to meet the increasingly diverse needs of people. Therefore, it is very important to find an efficient method to solve the problems. From the experience of developed countries, Hong Kong and Taiwan, it is necessary to explore a realistic path of a professional social work team involved in the medical service system.This paper analyzes the development of medical social work in the United States, Hong Kong and Taiwan by literature research, learns that medical social work in the United States. Hong Kong and Taiwan has been developed, and has a higher degree of occupation. We can know that there is a lot for us to learn from it. At the same time, we know the social work service has gradually appeared in some hospitals in Shenzhen. Shanghai and Guangzhou, but they are still at the preliminary stage, have not formed the patterns which can be popular utilized, and also have some problems. In order to further investigate the possibility of social work in medical service system, the writer uses the method of qualitative research. Through medical institutions" understanding and demands of social work, the writer interviews doctors, nurses, hospital administrators, patients and family members of the patients. The writer wants to further explore what realistic demand they have, what problems need to solve by social workers. The writer believes that social work intervening medical system in China is possible and necessary. The reality intervening path is setting up social work jobs in hospitals, purchasing social work services by government, and developing non-profit organizations under the supporting of government and promoting of policy.
