With a comprehensive understanding of the health, changes in the pattern of medical care and the advancement of China’s health care reform, there are some new issues gradually appear, such as the diverse needs of the patients, the pressures of health care workers, tensions in the doctor-patient relationship and the deficiencies of medical security system, which have provided objective conditions and opportunities for the development of medical social work. Since2000, the system, practice, education, research, professional development and practice of medical social work have entered into the period of initial development. At this time, some hospitals throughout the country began to establish the Social Work Department, introduce professional social workers to provide medical social work services.From the domestic literature search results, it is less than a decade since the domestic scholars started to pay attention to the field of medical social work, the articles focus on the combination of resources and medical social work are very few. Resource is an unavoidable topic in social work, the effectiveness of linkages and integrations to resources are very important issues related to the quality of social work services. In medical social work, with the resource advantages in support systems of the service objects, the possibility of the satisfaction of needs the demand will be extended to the maximum, the survival and rehabilitation of patients will be promoted, the purpose of "helping people to help themselves" and " holistic healthcare" will be achieved. By participant observations and unstructured interviews, this paper has studied the linkages and integrations to resources of medical social work of Hospital P in Shenzhen. With client-centered and the humane ethical values, professional skills and the systematic workflow, medical social workers have followed the patients from hospital to community-based rehabilitation, investigated and cared for the family members and environment around the clients, coordinated with medical staffs, hospital departments and resources outside the hospital. With the interventions to body, mind, spirit and society, medical social work in Hospital P has been achieving holistic healthcare services.This paper is divided into three parts:Part I:Explain the alternative causes and backgrounds of the topic, the problem and the purpose of the study. Through literature and theoretical reviews, to clarify the definition of medical social work, recall the course of development of medical social work, show the overall trend of medical social work researches. Focus on the necessity and adequacy of medical social workers involved in health care system, as well as practice theories and models in services providing. Discuss the development of ethnographic researches under the social constructivist view, as well as the methods of data collection and processing.Part Ⅱ:Select Social Work Department of Hospital P in Shenzhen as an example, though the ethnographic qualitative research methods, combined with participant observations and unstructured interviews, deeply descript work processes, service concepts and methods, resource linkages and integration process of medical social works in Hospital P, explore the interactions between service objects, health systems, social organizations and medical social workers. Select the "body-mind-soul-society" holistic perspective, to make comments to the effectiveness of linkages and integrations to resources of medical social works in Hospital P.Part III:Reflect on the effectiveness of linkages and integrations to resources of medical social work from3aspects as service objects, social workers and social resources channels. The author also gives thoughts on how to provide holistic health care better in the current period of health care reform and medical insurance policy.
